The Resolution Process: Actors and Dynamics

Bakırhan: “Turkey is the common home of all of us”

The Diyarbakır Institute for Political and Social Research (DİSA), with the support of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation, organized a roundtable meeting titled “The Resolution Process: Actors and Dynamics” in Diyarbakır. The meeting was attended by Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), representatives of civil society organizations, academics, and numerous guests.

The opening speech was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vahap Coşkun from Dicle University. Following that, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan shared his assessments regarding the resolution process.

Bakırhan stated, “Ankara should value Diyarbakır’s demands and thoughts on this process. Mr. Öcalan himself emphasized a solution within Turkey. The greatest observer is the people of Turkey; the most significant third eye is the 85 million citizens living in Turkey.”

He further added, “Turkey should no longer fear the Kurds and their demands. Kurds are an opportunity for peace in Turkey. The place to resolve this issue, which has consumed Turkey’s energy over the past 50 years, is within our own home. Turkey is the common home of all of us.
